$EC Being Shut Out

So, folks are saying that UF's shady leap over Michigan was in part to Auburn being shut out of the National Title game. I can't buy that biz. Big difference between Auburn who was undefeated, and the Gators who had it handed to them by a so-so Auburn club this year. I have a feeling this national title game will be eerily similar to Miami's thrashing of Eric Crouch and 1 loss Nebraska's squad a few years ago. I will be surprised if that is the case. I actually think it will be a good game. Remember in the loss to Auburn, Florida did not give up a touchdown defensively. Plus, that so-so Auburn team is what number 9 in the country, and only has 2 losses. I guess all but 8 teams are so-so in the country then. I don't agree with the statement that this is due to Auburn not getting in either. I think the rematch factor had more to due with it than anything. That and I think they are trying to stay away from a non-conference champion getting the bid i.e. Oklahoma and Nebraska when those were total debacles.

Of course USC was a lock last season and Miami was a shoe in vs OSU to win back to back championships a few years back. IMHO Florida is not a better or worse pick than Mishagan or USC.

Collage football needs a playoff badley

Hey, at the worst Florida gives up 500+ yards of offense, and 40+ points. Of course, so did Michigan.

A 2-loss Auburn team is indeed so-so (as are the rest save OSU-Michigan). I remember the guys at ESPN laughing at Charles Barkley when he said this was the weakest Auburn team in years, and they'd at least lose 2. We'll just have to wait and see what transpires. BTW folks: I will be pulling for Florida. I loathe OSU. We can all at least agree that the BCS is a joke nonetheless. A playoff is the only answer that makes sense.

Playoff is agreed! And I also will be pulling for Florida! I HATE OSU! I hate the Gators too but not as bad as OSU! But all in all the game means nothing to me. When a playoff comes in and decides the National Title it will mean something to me. I wouldnt care if it was a 4 team playoff. Atleast other teams would get the chance.

I would pull for UF but I want to see OSU win by about 40 to make the BCS look like crap again and make everyone say, "maybe the Michigan rematch should have happened".

Never thought of it that way. I got to were I would rather watch D1AA this year than D1A all because they have playoffs and a true National Champ. I saw an article in the Times on this and the guy asked what would have happened if TN High School FB had bowls instead of playoffs. DB was ranked #1 and lost in the first round of playoffs. Just like JMU in D1AA a couple of years ago. They won the NC and just barely made the playoffs if memory serves.
